The Contortionist

30mm, f/2.2, 1/20sec

I got the idea from a photography book when I went to Jarir Bookstore one day. I thought this was something easy to do, but when I asked my children to pose this way for me I realized then that this is not that easy for them because of the awkward position they had to do.

Week update

June 21, 2008

Hello folks, its been a week since I posted my last blog. At first, my intention was to make a blog every day but then I realized that it is very hard to do specially that our office timing is from 8 am up to 8 pm. Everytime I go home at night, I was already tired and aside from that I am trying to have a little time with my kids before they go to sleep. Then in the morning, we need to get up at 4 am to ready the kids for their school. Because of this, I am planning to make a blog every weekend only – so check it out weekly!

Anyhow the story today is a recap about the past week events and is focused mainly on Ryon since we’re all excited to know how he will react inside the classroom since this is his 1st time to go to school. On the first day which is sunday, Ryon got scared and cried all the time he is inside the classroom. On the next day, he was able to adjust already and started to participate in classroom activities. There’s just one complain from his teacher – Ms. Sylvia, she’s saying that Ryon was so ‘Malambing’ that he’s hugging her every now and then. On wednesday, they (Eryn and Ryon) were able to go to and come back from their school on their own – and since then, their mom Emily is not coming to send and fetch them from the school.

1st Day of School

June 15, 2008

Below is the photo of Eryn nd Ryon ready to go to Philippine International School Qatar. Today is their 1st day of school.

When I came home this afternoon during our office breaktime, my wife told me what happened in their 1st school day. She’s saying that she really didn’t expected the way Ryon behaved today in his 1st day of school. She said that Ryon became very afraid when he is about to go inside their classrom and started to cry. They couldn’t even picked him to stand up because he’s making his body so hard. So the teacher, Ms. Sylvia who happens to be the same teacher of Eryn when she’s still in kinder class, had to pull him while he’s in the floor just to get him inside the classroom.

2B + G + 13 Apartment Building

June 14, 2008

I wake up early this morning and since we don’t have office work on saturday, I decided to take a photo of one of the first project of our company. The location of this building is very near to our flat, it’s directly beside the Jaidah bridge which is the most popular landmark near our flat. This building is almost complete now. I almost had a problem taking picture of this because the shortest range of the lens that I attached to my camera is 70mm and I need to find a shooting place far away from the building to be able to fit in the frame. This image has been shot at 70mm, f16

Dinner at Ponderosa

June 13, 2008

My friend invited us tonight for a dinner. We met at the ‘The Center’, and since it’s near our flat (aside from the fact that it’s really hard to get a taxi during that time), my family decided to take a 20-minute walk going to the meeting place. When we finally met, they asked us where do we want to eat whether to the ‘Cafe Central’ or to ‘Ponderosa’ both are serving buffet dining. Joel decided to go to Ponderosa since there is more choices there.

Here’s a group picture inside the restaurant. Sadly, I’m not in the picture coz I was the photographer. Here, I’m using my new Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens which I found very good in indoor shots without using flash. Although a little bit soft, the good part is that I can able to capture purely the ambient light with enough shutter speed.

Below is the picture of Eryn, Aikee and Ryon. Because its f1.4, Ryon here did become blurred. I should have increased my aperture to make him sharper but I decided to shot all the pictures tonight at f1.4 to test the dof of my new lens.

Below is the picture of Eryn along with Aikee. By the way, Aikee and her parents we’re the first family we live in together in Qatar.
